BJ Barrie Named Euper Lane Elementary Teacher of the Year!

Fort Smith Public Schools is proud to announce that fifth-grade teacher BJ Barrie has been named the Euper Lane Elementary Teacher of the Year. Known for her dedication and commitment to student success, Mrs. Barrie goes above and beyond to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

“Mrs. Barrie does not quit until every student has reached their highest potential inside and outside of the classroom,” a colleague shared. She tutors students before and after school—including those from other grades—using her personal time to support their learning. Whether in the hallway, on the playground, or in the classroom, she is always ready to offer encouragement and guidance, making a lasting impact on her students’ lives.

Beyond her work with students, Mrs. Barrie actively seeks out professional development opportunities and shares her knowledge with fellow educators. Her passion for learning and teaching is evident in her classroom management, student engagement, and willingness to go the extra mile.
